Join us for this Complimentary Introduction to this fabulous art form.
*You can simply work stitches -or- elaborately embellish a project.
*You can make one square for a pillow -or- to frame -or- several blocks for any size quilt.
Included in this Session will be a bit of the history of Crazy Quilting, some of the ways you can consider creating your project - determining the theme, size and scope.
You will start with an embroidery sampler of basic stitches and will keep using that sampler to build upon as you explore more advanced stitches. You will start with thread, then silk ribbon, then beads ~ all worked upon your initial stitches.
You will then learn how to construct the square that you will embellish.
You will then plan out what ‘story’ you want to tell with the pieces of the square and from the square as a whole, working with various themes.
You tell YOUR STORY your way!
RSVP is Required: nickie at VisitUrbanSanctuary.com
If you want to begin stitching the day for which you choose to register, a kit will be available at the session, for purchase @$25 which includes: Q-Snap Square 11” x 11” frame ($20 Value), plus linen, needle, threads, and instructions - yours to keep.
This is a wonderful way to incorporate some of the ways our lives have been disrupted, perhaps fractured, over the past few years and find a way to heal through meditative fiber arts.
Rhythmic stitches and placement of embellishments will tell a story, block-by-block. It may look intimidating, but this is worked intentionally, and maybe a bit whimsically, stitch-by-stitch, and ends up conveying so much more than threads and fabric . . . you will be stitching your heart and soul into your work.
After the Introduction, we will be meeting around the middle weekend of each month and you will have 6 -2 1/2 hour sessions to choose from that weekend:
Thursday, Friday or Saturday
Either 1:00-3:30pm or 4-6:30pm
2023 Classes: NOV. 16, 17 or 18 and DEC, 14, 15, or 16
Class Fee is $45 for Instruction & materials; extra kits may be purchased from my supplies, or you may use your own.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Yes, you may bring your own fabrics, threads, trims, etc., that you may want to use for embellishments. If you want to use supplies from my stash, (the perfect button or beads or a pretty hanky) they will be either gifted or priced nominally; some kits will be available to purchase when making a specific embellishment. (Ex: metallic threads, needle, black glass beads for spider/spider web).
Let’s make fun and beauty out of this crazy world!
