Inspiring Ignatian Quote #19

And, after yesterday’s post, I find this quote from. St. Ignatius! So, since it was so lengthy yesterday, let’s just go back and find something to re-visit and savor. There was ALOT there:

The Gospel of St. Matthew 25:31-46: “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” (Verse 40)

The Prayer of St. Teresa of Avila: “Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”

What do these mean to you? . . . for your life as you live it now? You might find it helpful to journal your responses, reflections, even emotions.

Another way to prompt your journaling and/or prayer time is to listen to a relevant song. A perfect one comes to mind by Zach Williams, “Less Like Me”. His lyrics are poignant and speak to this very quote. He asks God to make him “a little more like mercy, a little more like grace, a little more like kindness, goodness and faith” . . . he enumerates the Fruits of the Holy Spirit.

It is through honing the Gifts of the Holy Spirit (of Christ) in our lives, (Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord), that we produce Fruits of the Holy Spirit (of Christ), (Love, Joy, Peace Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control). That’s an entirely separate lesson, but it’s a starting point for you to evaluate where you are in your life, compared to how it might look if you lived, ‘a little more like Jesus, and a little less like you’. Lived not just to be called a Christian, but to be a Christian.
